Understanding your day

There is lots to think about when looking for a wedding videographer. Here are some of the most popular and frequently asked questions I am asked and my answers to them.  If you have a question which we haven't answered below, please get in touch!

WHAT TIME WILL YOU START AND FINISH ON THE WEDDING DAY?

The time I start filming depends on the time your ceremony is scheduled for. I always allow at least 2.5 hours before the ceremony to capture your preparations. It’s very important for me to allow enough time to set up the static cameras and the sound equipment for the ceremony.

The finish time is a minimum of an hour into the evening celebrations / party – usually between an hour and two hours after. I never leave without feeling confident I’ve got enough footage of you and your guests.

ARE YOU INSURED?

Yes I have Public Liability insurance and all my equipment is insured through PhotoShield. Happy to send the certificate to your venue or any other suppliers who may need to see it.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU ARE ILL ON THE DAY?

I would have to be very ill to be unable to film. It is extremely unlikely and luckily has never happened so far. Should it happen though, I would ask Pete or my other second shooter who I trust to film on my behalf. If they couldn’t attend I know other professional videographers I could ask within the industry. I would pass on all the details you’ve sent to me and make sure they know what I’m looking for.

The worst scenario would be if I couldn’t find anyone to film for me. You would be refunded the full amount you had paid to date for the service should that happen. I would absolutely hate for that to happen and would do everything in my power to not let that happen.

WOULD YOU LIKE A HOT MEAL?

If there is enough time during your day then a hot meal would be very much appreciated please! I can discuss your schedule nearer the time to work out if it is possible.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO EDIT THE FILMS?

If you've chosen the ultimate package or the exclusive package then I will edit the sneak preview film within 72 hours of your wedding day. Three days gives me enough time to back up the footage and choose a couple of my favourite moments to edit together. The preview film is to get you excited for the longer films and reminisce on a wonderful day as a newly married couple.

All the other films can take up to 12 weeks to deliver. During prime wedding season I can get a bit of a backlog of edits but I NEVER outsource the editing which is why it can take up to 3 months. I promise it is worth the wait!

CAN WE CHOOSE THE MUSIC FOR THE EDITED FILMS?

The short answer is yes you can. The long answer is a bit more complicated. I totally understand how personal music is to each couple. A song I like, you might hate! I license the music for the full length film with a Limited Manufacture License. This means you can choose any songs you like and they will be license for private viewing.

The highlights and preview film needs to be licensed for public viewing and online use. I use different music libraries for those licenses – primarily Artlist, SongFreedom (now referred to as FyrFly) and The Music Bed. You still choose the song but there is a more limited choice of well known music. I can make recommendations based on the songs you choose for the full length film too.

WHAT DEPOSIT DO YOU NEED AND WHEN IS THE FINAL BALANCE DUE?

I ask for £300 booking fee to secure your date and then 50% of the remaining balance is due 6 months before your wedding day and the final payment due 30 days prior to your wedding. The contract, quotes and invoices are all sent through the secure booking system I have via Studio Ninja.

I hope that helps answering some of your questions. If you have any questions that haven’t been answered here please do message me below.
